The Future is Female: Female Entrepreneurship in Berlin and India
At the end of last year, the project ‘Female Entrepreneurship in Berlin and India (FEBI)’ was launched by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, in the framework of StartUp Asia Berlin (SUAB) and with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The Berlin Senator for Economics, Ramona Pop, stated that “With this project, we are further boosting the international network between Berlin and India with a focus on female founders. For some years, we have been promoting female entrepreneurship and helping women to start and work in the digital, tech and media industries. We want to further expand these activities and make them sustainable in the long term.”
The aim of the project is to contribute to improving the conditions for women-led companies in Berlin and India by networking and exchanging experiences between stakeholders from the Berlin and the international Asian startup scene. Berlin and Indian businesswomen and female startup founders – as well as supporting institutions (accelerators, incubators, non-governmental organizations), and international startup ecosystem actors will be supported with delegation trips to India and Berlin (in the context of the Asia-Pacific Week 2019 in May) and a training program matching their specific needs in order to expand and strengthen their international cooperation.
FEBI runs in cooperation with the GIZ project “Economic Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs and Startups by Women” in India, the GIZ Regional Office in Berlin, and enpact e.V.
