In a step to consolidate all the Asia-related startup initiatives by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises (Berlin Senate) into a collective platform – the Asia-Pacific Week Berlin has been renamed to AsiaBerlin Summit with a focus on connecting startup ecosystems.

Since 1997 the Asia-Pacific Week Berlin (APW) has offered a unique European platform for interdisciplinary, European-Asian dialogue with experts in the fields of politics, business, science, research and culture on globally relevant subjects: smart cities, industry 4.0, digitalization, startups, their ecosystems and innovation. With conferences, workshops, expert tours, exhibitions and an extensive partner program, the APW create a forum for information, dialogue and concrete collaborations that benefit the German and Asian partners alike.

The AsiaBerlin Summit will continue to be the platform for exchange and initiation of international partnerships. Berlin distinguishes itself as a creative and green city as well as a science metropolis, as a location for interdisciplinary research and development of future technologies. This makes the metropolis attractive for innovative start-ups as well as for established companies and international investors. The excellent location qualities of Berlin as “founder capital” with numerous colleges, technology parks, incubators, co-working spaces, VC funds, a distinct cultural and creative scene as well as space for leisure time and ideas form an ideal basis for this platform.

Due to the growing concerns around the COVID-19 outbreak across the globe,  the AsiaBerlin Summit 2020 has been rescheduled to ensure the health and well being of staff, strategic partners, speakers, and attendees. It will take place from 21 to 27 September in a hybrid format with an online and offline presence.  The locations will stay as planned: DIHK, Spielfeld and SAP Data Space.
